Superintendent’s Message

Welcome to Heber Elementary School District

It is a true privilege to serve as Superintendent of Heber Elementary School District—a place that represents family, community, resilience, and hope.

As I begin my 11th year as Superintendent, I remain just as excited and grateful as I was when this journey began. Continuing to serve this district, this community, and the people who have become family to me means more than I can put into words.

As the proud son of migrant farmworking parents and someone raised here in the Imperial Valley, I carry with me the values of hard work, perseverance, faith, and service that my parents instilled in me. Those lessons have shaped my life and continue to fuel my passion for education and public service.

Throughout my career—from teacher to principal to district leader—I have remained guided by one unwavering belief: every child deserves an excellent education and the opportunity to thrive, regardless of background or circumstance. Every student deserves to be known, valued, supported, and believed in.

At Heber, we are proud of the recognition our schools, students, employees, and programs have received at the county, state, and national levels. Those recognitions are meaningful, but they are not the finish line. They reflect what is possible when talented and caring people share a purpose and believe deeply in the students and families they serve.

As we look toward the future, our Board of Trustees has established four priorities to guide our work from 2026 through 2029:

1. Equity, English Learner, and Specialized Student Success — improving outcomes for the students with the greatest needs.
2. Whole Child Success — ensuring students are engaged, connected, supported, and on track.
3. Family and Community Partnership — helping families feel connected, informed, and empowered.
4. Academic Achievement and Future Readiness — ensuring students are learning today and prepared for future success.

The order is intentional. We begin with the students who need us most, care for the whole child, strengthen the partnership between school and home, and remain focused on high levels of learning and preparation for the future.

Beneath these priorities is a strong organizational foundation built upon strong people, effective systems, responsive stewardship, and a healthy culture. Together, these commitments represent our promise to our students, families, employees, and community.

This work is deeply personal to me. I believe with all my heart in our students, in this community, and in the people who serve them every day. I have seen students discover their potential because an adult refused to give up on them. I have seen families place their trust in us during some of their most difficult moments. And I have seen our employees step forward time and again because it was what our children needed.

That is who we are.

I invite our families, employees, community members, and local partners to remain engaged in this important work. Your voice, trust, and partnership are essential as we continue building a brighter future for Heber’s children.

Heber is not just a school district. It is a family—and I am incredibly proud to be part of the #OneHeber family.
