8th GRADE SAVE THE DATE: January 17, 2024 (5:00-8:00 p.m.) Southwest High School Showcase, they will have informational tables, demonstrations and performances. You will also have a chance to meet administrators and teachers to answer your questions.
Due to the extremely cold weather forecasted this week, we will open the Gym and Multipurpose Room (MPR) for students during the morning arrival. This will provide them with a warm and comfortable space to stay active and engaged during the colder temperatures.

Free Community Event: This event is a fantastic opportunity for our school community to come together, enjoy the rich cultural heritage of tamales, and celebrate the vibrancy of our local community. Just a friendly reminder, due to the construction in the vicinity of Heber School, the student pick-up for the Heber School-ELOP will be at Carline (11th Street). The ASES parking lot will be closed during this phase of the project. We will have a Pupil Supervisor stationed at the Carline gate.
For your reference, attached is a map of an optional route when exiting Carline during construction.

We would like to bring to your attention an important matter concerning ongoing construction activities in the vicinity of Heber School along 11th Street, Heffernan, and 14th Street.
The safety and well-being of our students are of utmost priority, and we are reaching out to ensure that everyone remains vigilant and takes extra precautions during this period.
Regular School
For the regular school day, the drop off/pick up/walk-home will remain the same through the “Carline” on 11th Street.
Heber School-ELOP
For Heber School-ELOP, the student pick up will be moved from the “ASES Office” to the “Carline” on 11th Street
Here are a few key points to consider:
* Increased Traffic: With construction activities, there may be an increase in vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the area. Please exercise caution while commuting to and from Heber School and be mindful of potential changes in traffic patterns.
* Restricted Areas: Some areas may be cordoned off or restricted due to construction.
* Awareness Talk: Have a conversation with your children about the potential hazards associated with construction sites and the importance of staying alert and following safety guidelines.

Attention District Parents: Important Information Regarding *Superintendent’s Parent Advisory Council First Meeting and Meeting Schedule The Superintendent’s Parent Advisory Council is composed at a minimum of two parents from each grade level at each of our schools as well as parents from district committees. The purpose of the council is to provide transparency and two-way communication between the Superintendent and the parent community of each school. This council will discuss a variety of topics, share information, and broaden understanding of District and State related issues. On Thursday, October 19, 2023 our school will participate in the Great Southern California ShakeOut. At 10:19 a.m., your child will drop to the ground, take cover under a table or desk, and hold on, along with millions of southern Californians. The ShakeOut is based on a magnitude 7.8 earthquake that one day may shake all of Southern California strongly. This is the chance for us all to practice what to do, so we are safe when it happens. Please see attached letter for more information.
